In partnership with the Bury St Edmunds Literature Festival, we are proud to present a special screening of the documentary Heaven in Auschwitz. The film will be introduced by author Wendy Holden, whose book The Teacher of Auschwitz is based on the life of Fredy Hirsch.

Fredy Hirsch is best remembered for protecting and promoting the well-being of Jewish children during the Holocaust. Heaven in Auschwitz details the lives of 13 Holocaust child-survivors of Theresienstadt and Auschwitz-Birkenau and their memories of Hirsch, whose charisma, talent, and humour safeguarded their lives until his untimely death in 1944.
