Abbeygate Cinema are delighted to bring you ‘Bury St Edmunds New Act of the year’, giving a platform to aspiring local comedians.

The brainchild of our regular compere and host, George S V, this inaugural competition gives new acts a chance to perform and for the winner, the chance to perform on our Premier Screen stage with a renowned comedian.

George S V adds “This is a significant step toward growing this comedy club but growing with local acts too. I hope every ticket is sold so there’s a platform for local acts to be seen by local people. We have a few different plans for 2026, and this is the first, I’m very excited”

The competition culminates with our finalists performing on our Premier Screen stage, alongside our secret TV headliner.
