Improv. Comedy

Improv. Comedy

Following another sold out performance on their return home to Bury St Edmunds, Insert Laughter Here are delighted to present their exciting Winter 2023/24 season with two new improvised comedy performances.

The group specialise in what they call “colourful chaos” – using suggestions from the audience throughout the show for ingredients in their improvisation games. In the first half, a series of short form games, some of which you might recognise from the likes of Whose Line is it Anyway and Mock The Week, albeit with the group’s own twists; then in the second half the giant spinning wheel is unveiled and the team create a brand new theatrical “masterpiece” from scratch using more audience input and several spins of the wheel. No one knows what might happen in a show, but laughter is always guaranteed.

Insert Laughter Here was formed in Bury St Edmunds in February 2019, as an improvised comedy collective under the direction of Aaron Weight. Their London debut performances, two nights at The Museum of Comedy as part of Camden Fringe, were a resounding success, and their most recent performance at Abbeygate Cinema completely sold out. With their own-created long-form game, Spin-a-Play, they have so far created six “brand new” comedy plays, most recently including ‘Scandal in a Carriage’ – a period drama and ‘Spin City’ – a film noir. Complete records of all the plays they create can be found in the archive on their website – https://www.insertlaughterhere.co.uk/spin-a-play

The two shows at Abbeygate Cinema are Friday 24th November and Friday 19th January, both at 8pm. These shows are suitable for adults only, with the performers ready and willing to take on any suggestions from the audience – and they do mean any.
