Quarantine Q+A with Gareth
As the third national lockdown looms, we’re taking the time to get you more acquainted with our wonderful team. This time we talk to FOH Manager, Gareth.
How long have you been a part of the Abbeygate Team?
Just over a year, with a very brief break in Bristol.
What’s your favourite film? Why should people watch it?
Airplane. Surely, this is essential viewing for everyone looking for an easy laugh. Maybe, but don’t call me Shirley, etc.
What are you watching right now?
As a Dad very little that doesn’t feature an animated animal of some kind. I watch more of Paw Patrol than the things most people are binging sadly.
Any book recommendations?
The Gruffalo. I won’t ruin the end but there’s a plot twist I didn’t see coming.
What are you listening to?
A combination of Spotify and various podcasts are on constantly in the background.
What’s your favourite thing to have happened at Abbeygate?
The friendships I’ve formed and the way the building has transformed in the year I’ve been here. When I started, the building was literally half the size. Now we have a beautiful open foyer space and an incredible Premier Screen. Adjusting to those changes alone would take a lot of effort, plus the insanity that is/was COVID, but I feel we’ve kept that warm welcome we pride ourselves on. I’m very proud of the whole team for their energy, enthusiasm and the laughter despite all the challenges the last year held.
What are you most excited to do when this is over?
Hug, friends and family mostly. Also, as a Leeds United fan who waited 16 years to be promoted, our return as Champions still needs to be celebrated properly. It might take a couple of days.
