Quarantine Q+A with Anna-Maria

Quarantine Q+A with Anna-Maria

As the third national lockdown looms, we’re taking the time to get you more acquainted with our wonderful team. This time we talk to FOH Team Member, Anna-Maria.

How long have you been a part of the Abbeygate Team?

Soon coming up to a year and half.

What’s your favourite film? Why should people watch it?

It’s got to be Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (extended edition of course!). I love all the films in the trilogy but this one just edges ahead as the storyline is flawless, it has amazing action scenes and stunning cinematography. It’s incredible to think the film is almost 20 years old. It has to be my go to comfort movie!

What are you watching right now?

As we’re currently living in strange times I thought it was only appropriate to re-watch ‘Twin Peaks’. I’ve also finished ‘Knock Down the House’ on Netflix and preparing to binge-watch ‘The Mandalorian’ series and ‘The Last Kingdom’.

Any book recommendations?

I’ve been reading a lot of nature writing books during these lockdowns. Bill Bryson’s ‘A Walk in the Woods’ is a both fascinating and hilarious. Also Helen MacDonald’s ‘H is for Hawk’ and Christians Ritter’s ‘A Woman in the Polar Night’ are beautiful reads.

What are you listening to?

Besides listening to bands like Lord Huron, Avalanches and Fleet Foxes, I’ve been tuning into Radio 6 Music everyday to listen to new music as well as classic songs. Lauren Laverne’s and Shaun Keaveny’s shows have become my background sound.

What’s your lockdown guilty pleasure?

Anything chocolate related and eating an unholy amount of hummus.

What’s your favourite thing to have happened at Abbeygate?

Getting commissioned to do the artwork in the foyer, it is something that I’m really proud of!

What are you most excited to do when this is over?

Apart from being able to go out with friends and family to the pub stress free, I’m looking forward to going back to gigs and music festivals again. Also cannot wait to jump on a plane and cross places that I want to visit off my bucket list!
